ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the significance of modified pediatric early warning score (MPEWS) in emergency early warning triage and classification. Method Selecting ill children who came to emergency department from February of 2017 to January of 2018 as objects of study, and triage nurses of emergency department gave MPEWS to the sick children under the demand of the filed data collection. Furthermore, according to the five levels of disease severity classification, doctors gave the disease assessment and classification to the sick children, finding the relevance between the MPEWS and the severity of the disease.Result Consequently, there is a relevance between the MPEWS scores and the severity of the disease indeed (rs=-0.630, P < 0.001). The data show that the higher of the scores, the lower disease level, and the higher severity of the disease. ROC areas under the curve of the subjects is 0.996, and the confidence interval is 0.993-0.999 (P <0.05). That indicates that MPEWS exists statistical significance of emergency children judgement. The optimal number is 4.5, the sensitivity is 96%, and the specificity is 99.9%.Conclusions MPEWS is valuable in emergency early warning triage, children emergency severity assessment and identifying critical ill children in time.

ABSTRACT

The study objectives were to investigate the relationship between early exposure to genistein and obesity in young adulthood and to evaluate changes in reproductive health during puberty and adulthood following in utero exposure to genistein. Thirty-two female rats were randomized into four groups; low dose 400 mg genistein/kg diet group (LG), mid-dose 1200 mg genistein/kg diet group (MG), high dose 3600 mg genistein/kg diet group (HG), and control group without genistein diet (CON). Rats were fed genistein at the beginning of pregnancy along with a high-fat diet. Pups were sacrificed at week 4 and week 8 after birth. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) results showed a correlation between maternal genistein intake and genistein concentration in pups' plasma. Compared to CON, body weight reduced significantly in male HG group at week 8. No statistical differences were found in plasma estradiol (E2), testosterone (T), interleukin (IL)-6, and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels with early genistein exposure. Furthermore, uterine histopathology showed notable changes in groups HG and MG compared with CON at week 4 and week 8. In conclusion, maternal genistein supplement could reduce body weight in male pups and alter uterine histopathology in female pups.

ABSTRACT

Appropriate selection and measurement of lead biomarkers of exposure are critically important for health care management purposes, public health decision making, and primary prevention synthesis. Lead is one of the neurotoxicants that seems to be involved in the etiology of psychologies. Biomarkers are generally classified into three groups: biomarkers of exposure, effect, and susceptibility. The main body compartments that store lead are the blood, soft tissues, and bone; the half-life of lead in these tissues is measured in weeks for blood, months for soft tissues, and years for bone. Within the brain, lead-induced damage in the prefrontal cerebral cortex, hippocampus, and cerebellum can lead to a variety of neurological disorders, such as brain damage, mental retardation, behavioral problems, nerve damage, and possibly Alzheimer's disease, Parkinsons disease, and schizophrenia. This paper presents an overview of biomarkers of lead exposure and discusses the neurotoxic effects of lead with regard to children and adults.

ABSTRACT

In previous study, the 150-ku oxygen-regulated protein(ORP150) was identified as a candidate glycoprotein related to hepatocellular carcinoma. In order to further validate the expression level of ORP150 in hepatocellular carcinoma, protein expression was determined by Western blot and cell immunochemistry, and messenger RNA(mRNA) expression was detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. The effect of ORP150 on apoptosis and invasive potential of hepatocellular carcinoma cells was evaluated using the small interference RNA(siRNA) technique. Both the protein and mRNA expression levels of ORP150 were significantly upregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines compared with a non-tumor human liver cell line. After transfection with the specific siRNA of ORP150, significantly greater apoptosis of hepatocellular carcinoma cells was induced compared with untransfected cells. However, no significant effect on invasive potential was found.Overexpression of ORP150 was associated with hepatocellular carcinoma, and ORP150 might promote the proliferation of hepatocellular carcinoma cells by inhibiting apoptosis.ORP150 could be a potential therapeutic target for hepatocellular carcinoma.
